I got one of these today from ebay. This thing is a modern one
with the digital channel display. I got it specifically to generate UHF
but of course it does VHF too. Option 5 is stereo generation.
Yep, I can generate stereo TV. This appears rather uncommon
in these gizmos. It works well.

I did a check on the performance compared to my two single
channel BAVM ones. This one is quite a bit better, fed from
a Blu-ray player running a DVD. It really looks flat out
to 4.2 MHZ and color bars look substantially better, especially
a green-magenta transition. Ringing
due to the sharp cutoff is symmetrical, unlike that from the BAVM ones
which is post ringing only.

A postscript: these gizmos run hot, very hot. Dangerously
hot for electrolytics.

Neat, but rather expensive.

Well, relatively expensive. The BAVMs are going for $25 to $35,
this on set me back $99 .. but it has the rare stereo. The ones that
don't cover the whole UHF range are cheaper on the 'bay. I
specifically wanted above channel 24.

Is it drawing excessive current for a 25 Watt device?

I have two 60-860s and a 60-550 all in regular use. They are intended to be rack-mounted gear, so make sure you allow space on the bottom and top (i use wooden 'feet' I cut to size) and they really don't run too hot...
One of mine has btsc stereo and digital display..it can do UHF up until over the air channel 27..otherwise, the higher channels are all cable frequencies..in fact, every one of mine tops out at channel 27 UHF over the air., but I use VHF exclusively.

Mine goes up to Ch. 69

Does it correspond to 'broadcast/air' channel 69? I had trouble getting any of my blonder-tongue modulators to do over 540MHz except the cable frequencies. My frequency chart lists 14-83 as 'north american air uhf', with the exclusion of channel 37 of course. It is however an old chart from the 1960s

Yes. This thing can be set for three different types of cable frequency
sets plus one called "U" which is the standard OTA frequencies only.
