Any satellite Digicipher channel "fixed key"?

Turned on my C-Ku band DSR922satellite receiver yesterday for the first time in months. Clock was about 5 min slow. Clock auto-sets only when a Digicipher channel is received. The usual one I had it parked on, a shopping channel, seems to be gone. Found "Newsmax" on GB 802 still IDing, Not Authorized, but the clock did reset to correct minutes so apparently the channel is active I just can't see it.

Anyone know if there is a satellite channel on that can be received by the Videocipher-Digicipher decoder and show the programming? They used to call that "fixed key" when anyone with a decoder could watch.

No I haven't done anything with it in years. When NPS sold out its big dish customers to Dish Network. Seemed like a good deal at the time. Ha!

Anyway just wondering if there's any channel left "in the clear" or Fixed Key to test the old DSR 922 with.

Yeah, the small dish industry made backroom deals to get channels removed from C band till we had squat... My dish is still up but i havent hooked nothing to it in awhile...

www.satforums.com you can log in as a guest and poke around, 4dtvrocks is the digicipher forum.... Check it out.. :)

Ed-

It has been a while since I "messed with" my DSR-922 settings, though I do just plain use it fairly often. Primarily, I listen to the music channels on it, which are still available and not encrypted.

What I do remember is, you can create a free online account with the one remaining provider of programming to 4DTV receiver owners, and once that account is active, you can get a "re-hit", which if I remember right does things such as reset the clock.

I also recommend satforums, because there are pitfalls to these receivers and the data streams now that can make things worse if I remember right. I think there are/were still some unencrypted 4DTV video channels, but I have not tried to tune any in in quite a while. Maybe Lyngsat will have details.

One important thing is to avoid a site called "music workshop chicago" or similar; they claim to "help" 4DTV owners but are apparently only some type of scam from everything I have read.
