what happened to hee haw, and why does opryland not let anyone put episodes online

I had to sit through that show often as a litttle kid in the early 70s. My great aunts and uncles watched it a lot. Got to see it on a roundie Color set at one aunts, and a early black and white -About a 16" circa 1950 at another aunts... My grandma had a 23" admiral B&w. All of these were about 50 miles from the nearest stations in Duluth, Mn.

There are episodes on DVD.
I tried to watch it a while back but it hasn't aged well, it was so corny I had to quit.

I love that show.The original Nashville Network rerun some shows years back.I'm glad that I'd recorded them.

Great ole true country music.Not todays country rock and roll.

I seen some clips on Youtube and other video sites before they get pulled off for copyright BS.

this is another great TV program they dont let out of the vaults like Johnny Carson' s shows and others.

It wouldnt be to bad if you edited out all the non -music parts...

Most of the stars of the original "Hee-Haw" are long gone, or retired.

Update: My wife just found it on ch 231 on the Dish Network receiver in her sewing/quilting room.

The show was shot at WLAC-TV in Nashville and later at Opryland. It could be the last locally shot show for a network. And what a great run.

I watched it quite a bit while growing up, right up to the last season when they ruined it. I have a number of episodes on tape, a guilty pleasure I'll pull out from time to time. Yep, as corny as they come.

(occasionally my wife & I will jump into a chorus of "where, oh where are you tonight", further proof that we were made for each other!)

One other little thing, when I was about 17 I wrote a letter to Hee Haw and had them do a "salute!" for my hometown (Preston, MD.) Wish I had that one on tape.

I miss the cornfield pop-up jokes announced by the scare-CROW.
This was a weekend staple for my brother and I and was on one of the Philly VHF stations, so we saw it in glorious Zenith color.

If the show was still on today.It wont fit in with todays crop of country artists that sound like rock and roll.Unless you call it "Rock Haw".

I prefer the classic country artists.

It is on as I type, an episode from 1974, on RFD-TV, Dish Ch 231 , fwiw...

Hee Haw was one of my dad's favorite shows. He controlled what we watched and so I saw a lot of it on the old 21" color GE in the 1970s. It was on Channel 2 in Greensboro on Saturday night at 7:00. I think I was the one who had to get up and change the channel and the Tenna-Rotor (ka-LUNK, ka-LUNK, ka-LUNK).

My favorite parts were Archie Campbell telling his version of fairy tales, like Rinderceller and her two sad blisters. When she left the ball, she slopped her dripper. Or the Pee Little Thrigs. "He huffed and he puffed and he hoed the blouse down."

There was more corn on that show than in the field.

It was corny as all hell, but seems like about all of us have FOND memories of it..

True Sandy, even though I don't care much for it now, we watched it all the time back when it was new.

The music is the best part, guys like Roy Clark and Buck Owens can play a Guitar as well as anyone but the Rock & Roll guys get all the acclaim.
