RCA-built CRT swap
 

Considering all the different makes of sets that use RCA CRTs, I'm wondering if my 19VLNP22 would be a suitable substitution for, say, a 19VJMP22. Both are inline.

Odds are it will go. I will try to run down the differences but I am
almost 60 & suffer from CRS. Do folks get CRS in Canada ??

Physical differences:
Screen size
Screen curvature
Screen glass transparency, color, reflectivity.
Mounting method.
Pin out.
Socket type, pins or spring contact.
Built in degauss shield.
Separate focus-G-2 conectors.
Deflection angle (overall depth)

Electrical:
Anode KV rating.
Bonded yoke (most modern RCA )
Deflection angle ( different yoke)



Most in-lines are the same electricaly. If it physicaly fits & the
socket fits & has the same pin-out I would try it. But dont blame me
if you grow a third arm or get covered with festering pustules:D

Neither have a built-in degauss shield or bonded yoke, that much I know. The 19VLNP22 is in my 1982 RCA which I just don't care for, but it's really strong so I don't want to part with it. The type of Quasar I want, I saw a video of one with the 19VJMP22, the person who made the video said it is RCA-built.

Its probably a Jap Quasar & I dont remember whos jugs
they used. Could be most anyone. Bottom line gotta check it
out in person.

during our years of experimenting,we found that if the plug or pins looked the same,the crt would work.made hundreds of swaps like this.rarely did something not work

I have a GE badged Quasar, that uses a GE CRT. Bad flyback, of course.
I worked on a Quasar badged set, that also had a GE CRT. I was surprised to see a GE CRT in a Quasar set, as they were never a big supplier of CRT's to Motorola or Quasar.
I'd have to look at the type number of the CRT used in the set. :scratch2:
