Apple CRT Display, thin green line no picture.
 

Greetings, I have an old Apple CRT from about 1996, It makes a loud buzzing sound and only displays a green line that runs from the center of the screen to the bottom.

Any ideal on what the problem is and if it's fixable? I know about the high voltage's ect.

Model? I have service manuals for Apples 90's CRTs.

I'm not sure exactly where to check, but it sounds like you have no horizontal raster but some vertical?

EDIT: Woops, that's the user manual. Hold on I "should" have the service one for this.

EDIT2: Turns out that IS the service manual. Wow that's crappy. I hate to see what the user manual is, how to plug in and that's it? Jeez. :/

Thanks, Ya that's pretty sad for service info, everything says return to apple. I don't know a lot about CRT terms, but all I know so far is it makes a loud buzzing noise and has a thin green line that runs from the bottom middle of the screen to dead center of the screen and stops.

Think you can get us an interior picture? I want to say caps, just because I like saying caps, but it may be something else. I wouldn't run it again though until it's figured out.

Sure, I will get photos tomorrow. I got the entire system in it's box a Powermac 7200/120 from an e waste drive. I am not even sure the computer itself is working, It turns on I get a chime and then I just get what sounds like a chirp over and over again. don't know if thats from a bad battery or the monitor or both or it's normal. No I won't run it until I get it fixed.

I have a PowerMac 7500, a constant reboot to a chirp is not normal and it should run even headless. May have a corrupt system file (or some crazy app that's running), but if you aren't hearing a death chime, you're good so far.

If you're not wanting to mess with fixing the display, you can buy one of these and use any VGA pc monitor.

I do want to fix the display, but don't have any time right now. That is a good quick way to get the system up and running. Thanks! I will try to post back some photos when I open it in the next week or so.
