1962 Magnavox b/w picture tube cap

Hi fellas,

I'm new here and looking for a cap to go over my picture tube back on my 1962 Magnavox console tv. Does anyone have one around off a parts set they would be willing to sell? There is a good chance that I am moving in a few months, and I want to make sure this is protected. I'll post a few pics of the set so you can see it. I love this thing! I've checked the tubes and they all test great, but all I can get is a lit raster and no sound. Any suggestions of what might be the issue? Thanks so much! P.s. Anyone know why my picture posted upside down?

Be aware that clumsy movers can snap a CRT neck even with the back and CRT cup in place.

It might be safer to remove the CRT and move it in your car.

True, but I'd still feel better having it there. Even moving it around the house makes me nervous. It's a miracle it's survived this well. Someone prior to my ownership knocked the end of the key off the neck. Talk about close!

Hello you can make a cone out of a cereal bowl just to cover the crt until you get the right part...Timothy

I will take a picture of my 1964 Magnavox 24" b&w combo, and show you the Rubbermaid bowl I used.

Thats a nice Mag allright. I like that cabinet and those legs, and they go all the way up...oops . :Dgoing off topic.

I think you may be able to get a similar cup off a Motorola, Zenith or Admiral but back covers seem to be more scarce than TVs that need them.:sigh:

I may have found a parts set locally. It's an astro sonic with tube tv, where mine is all tube. If no one buys it I've worked out a deal with the owners. Thanks fellas.
