Unknown RCA mechanical remote

Any idea what models this would have been supplied with?

It has the modern RCA logo. RCA used radio freq remotes
up to the late 60's IIRC. This looks ultrasonic.
With modern logo & 3 functions I would guess early to
mid 70's but not a higher end set, prob a portable.
Its got me curious so maybe tomorrow I will comb through a
few Sams & see what I find.

I had never heard of a radio frequency remote, at least not a production model. I was under the impression that the idea was canned in favor of ultrasonic, which this one is.

I think you have got electronically generated ultrasonic mixed up with RF remotes (which I've never heard of being used with TV).

All RCA remotes up through the 60's that I know of are ultrasonic...Electronically generated ultrasonic (switched transistor oscilator driving a small ultrasonic tweeter), but definitely ultrasonic.

Looks like mid 70's or so. Just before the XL100s came out.

Seems that RCA wasn't big on mechanical remotes. The only other ones I have seen have sliders that are pulled back and snap forward, one or three sliders as far as I know.

IIRC Zenith had the hammer type mechanical hand units patented, so RCA got around that patent by using electronic tone generation, and maggnobox dogged it with bellows buttons blowing into ultrasonic (dog?)whistles....There may have been other novel ultrasonic hand unit designs, but those are the only ones I can think of.

OOPS You caught me on that one ! I must be mixing them up
with garage door openers. Sorry to give bad info, consider
the rumor squashed.

That being said, I'm guessing that remote car starters are also RF remotes.
