Mary Poppins...

Just got thru watching the last half of "Mary Poppins" on Disney, Jr....Disney's were at the top of their game w/this one, in any area you wanna name-Story, cast, music, technical prowess, & even tho I'm 56, I STILL enjoyed it as much now as I did in 1964 or '65 when I 1st saw it. And maybe that's a BIG part of it, too-a 50 yr old "Kiddie Flick" that holds its own w/grown ups.

Hey Sandy...I wasn't lucky enough to see Mary Poppins when it was first released. I was old enough, but mom was busy at that time taking care of the three younger brats...er...I mean children. I didn't see it for the first time until I was almost 30 years old and it was love at first viewing.

I just bought the 50th Anniversary BluRay version and it's nothing short of spectacular. I never get tired of watching it or listening to it. As Mary Poppins would say it's "practically perfect in every way."

Well, that's the thing. What can 2014 bring to the table that 1964 DIDN'T have ? Better special EFX. Fine. Cool. Big Whoop. Can you give me a better story ? Better screenplay ? Better actors? Better orchestration? Face it, 2014, old, primitive, clunky 1964 has you SKUNKED, in EVERY meaningful way..

I remember going to see that movie when it first came out. My friend's mom drive us in her big white 1958 Cadillac convertible with a black top.
