Hello from Idaho!
Been lurking here since spring when I ran across bandersen's Ge 21c2465 thread.
Usually just an old car and tools guy but when I see a masterpiece like a 1957 GE Coaxial TV I just gotta have it. Found mine in a local Antiques store. Need to clean it up and post better pictures but here is a picture from when I got it last spring. http://photos.foxgti.com/i.ashx?gall...size=1600x1200 Yesterday my 74 year old mother noticed my TV in a commercial. It's for a toy company that was started by a women who is an engineer and is making toys that will increase young girls interest in physics. Pretty cool... http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor...to_pursue.html |
Welcome! Nice find! Those Coaxial consoles from the late 50's were about as far out as GE ever got style-wise, but they're still nice looking sets.

Good to have ya- there's one of those tv's on CL locally for sale for quite a long time, either they sold it, or got en-trash-prenurail on it, and turned it into a liquor cabinet.... Only $1500. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/fuo/4194686285.html Just in case ya git tired a watchin it.... seriously, we don't do that stuff here.... No repurposin, no cabinet conversions, book cases, we don't explode them, shoot them, nothin.... just fix em.... |

Looks Great and bright! With my favorite handymen are on as well. Welcome to the TV funhouse!
Its a miracle if thats not a replacement CRT, the one in my coaxial is pretty dead as most others ive found. |
The CRT may be a replacement. Here is a picture of the tag on it.
http://photos.foxgti.com/i.ashx?&mid...rdsize=882x497 Meanwhile this morning I found the TV in a new music video by Avicii. The singer is Dan Tyminski, who was the voice of The Soggy Bottom Boys from O Brother Where Art Thou. Bandersen seems to have a pretty big following in the video production community! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cp6mKbRTQY |
Welcome to the site!
|
Only problem is they're showing color programming on that GE in the video ;)
