VHS & BETAMAX tape rewinder
 

HI GUYS!

I know that these things are available in the USA, but does anyone know if I can get one that is available to buy in the UK? If I were to get any of these from America, they would be on the US mains voltage only. Can anyone help? :D

Most of the products exported to the North American countries were generally 120 volts AC.
I had a VHS rewinder that had a place for a voltage selector switch, but didn't have that option. I never looked to see if it had a dual voltage primary.
Those things draw so little power, you would need, just a small step-down transformer.
Those traveler plug adaptor kits, generally came with a small step-down transformer, good for 50 watts.

Thanks for that Dieseljeep! Come to think of it, I have a Panasonic VCR/DVD combo with Jet Rewind. The tape retracts so that it can be rewound at high speed. But I must get a Beta rewinder to save wear on my Sony Beta machines. Got to make them last!

The Beta rewinders weren't all that common. I saw only one in the various thrift stores, I frequent.
I received an old Sanyo Beta machine, that is probably not worth repairing.
I would probably use that for rewinding, should the need arise. :scratch2:

I think the Sanyo Beta was one of the few that retracted the tape back fully into the cassette for rewinding. If so yes it would make a good rewinder.

All the Sony Betas I ever worked on had the tape threaded around the head drum during FF-Rew. Replaced many worn out drums, machined air bearing surface worn slick from rewinding causing stiction and drag on the tape.

The one rewinder I have (which is for Beta tapes) just takes a typical "wall-wart" power supply, so you may find others that you can power with UK plug-in supplies instead of the included ones.

I tried to order one of these through Amazon, but they don't send to UK. Damn! I really need one these beta rewinders to save wear and tear on my machines. Just don't know what I'm going to do.:no::no:

Of course you would need a voltage converter. I see some for $10 or less.
