$5 RCA BW at Kutztown
 

Found this at Kutztown. Not much else in the tv universe but did get a Sanyo Newvicon camera for the camera collection. Just as bad as my other one.

This RCA AT127E BW portable was at the back of a table and the seller was just short of gratefully weeping that I bought it for $5. He wanted it to have a home. Early 70's or so. 2/13VHF-14/83UHF. Very clean and is SS. Opening later. Powered right up with sound. The CRT took it's time and slowly came up sharp. Not the same picture oomph of later sets. Needs a bit of lin adjustment for later.

Took a quick look inside tonight. Clever early motherboard construction with modules for IF/H/V and another I forget. Only one unlabled adjustment pot to be seen. No sign of focus taps. I decided to leave it as is. The other curious thing is in the second pic. The little balun board for the monopole is completly cut off. Four white wires all snipped. Not sure what goes where so that stays as is. Nothing to receive anyway. No source markings to be seen.

According to the code date on the yoke, the set was built in late 1974.

Diesel, please unlock the date code unless it is another NSA thing. Inquiring minds want to know.

I just looked at the yoke. It is marked:
RCA drawing #. Shadow wouldn't let me make it out.
Next: 274, means RCA made it themselves.
Next: 7442-3, 1974, 42nd week, -3, either revision or plant number.
BTW, when ordering RCA parts, you couldn't use the number stamped on the part, you had to use the service manual to look up the stock number.
This method usually worked with U.S. made products.
