New from Arizona
I've been collecting radios and tvs for a number of years now. I have a 1959 Magnavox console b/w tv that I use often and a mid 60's RCA color tv that I use all the time. I have several other vintage tvs, some work and some need work. I just recently learned about this site, and decided to check it out.

Good to see ya.... now post some pictures ! ! especially that '59 magnavox.... lets see..

Here is the 1959 Magnavox. I'm watching an episode of Perry Mason on it.
http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8548483b.jpg Here is my Philco Microgrid. That is me beside it. The picture was taken about 3 years ago. http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...ps832b8007.jpg Here is an odd one. It is a Stromberg Carlson. It was made and sold in Mexico. I don't have much more info on it though. One of my future projects. http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...ps91e2de4c.jpg I also have this Douglas tv. All the controls for the tv are on the chairside table with a phonograph. Another future project. http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0f68b975.jpg http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...psdafd9f1d.jpg I have quite a few more, I will post later. |
Welcome! Good to hear of older sets being used as "daily drivers". A mid-60s RCA color set though? I hope you have a fan in that one.
|
nice sets ! ! ! Interesting cabinet on that Magnavox...
|
Well originally the tv was an RCA. A previous owner removed the original RCA tv and installed an 80's Zenith tv. Whoever did it, did an excellent job. The radio and phonograph are the original, just the tv has been replaced.

Welcome ! You have Nice Schtuff !
|
Welcome! It was very common in the late 70s for big console combo sets like that to have a new TV installed.
What part of Arizona? |
Phoenix. I've seen your pic over on antiqueradios. My screen name is the same over there. Just new to this site here.
|
I like that Stormberg Carlson. That is unique. Welcome.
|
Bill: I haven't found out much information on the SC. I do have the original paperwork for it. Unfortuneatly it is all in Spanish. Even all the writing on the set iteself is in Spanish. The turntable is a Gerrard. The whole set needs a lot of work. The house were it was sitting had leaked and so there is quite a bit of water damage to the set. It is currently out in storage. I hope to restore it one day.
