ID the set in this craigs post?
 

I'm looking for a nice vintage color tv, preferably a Zenith, to place in my room and be one of the main sets I use. Can someone please identfiy this particular Zenith? Looks like a late 60's model. Maybe a 66? Since I usually only collect pre-1963, I'm not well versed in later sets. Also, how was the quality of sets aat this time? I know that foreign sets started to flood the market by around 1974.

Looks like a 1966-1970 model. The control panel looks like no Zenith I'm familiar with. If the tuning knobs are not missing then it might be a Space Command remote control equipped model.

Having had at least 9 different tube Zeniths from 1950 to 1971(4 being color) and two delta gun color SS sets I've come to form the opinion that nearly all the tube Zeniths up through the first few SS models were very good quality.

You can't beat nearly any tube type Zenith for quality. I have had a few Zenith sets over the years and they were all good. The build quality is excellent on Zenith sets in general and they are the perfect daily use set. The color ones are a bit more maintenance intensive but well worth having. If you get that set, the hardest job will be removing the cataract from the CRT but it can be done.

65 or 66 would be about right. Most survivors are the bigger
sets with bass & treble controls. See ad.

This one is from the low end. The knobset looks like the
ones they used on the first 14" color. Chassis is probably
near the same as the big set.

I worked for a Zenith dealer from 1963 thru early 1970 and I, also, say The control panel looks like no Zenith I'm familiar with. The back should have a date on it.

This set is actually a 1968 model, and yes, quite an unusual control panel. This set would have a 20Y1C38 chassis. The CRT is NOT original. If the original CRT were present, it would have a non-reflective bonded lens (and most likely have green halo too).

Too bad that rear right leg was snapped off....

Run, do not walk. Your a fool if u do not buy this for $30.
