impregnated capacitor
Hi All;
In the Parts list for my 630, there is a listing for a few caps.. I know this will sound funny.. :D there is -- Capacitor Tubular, .001 mfd., 400 volts and there is -- Capacitor Tubular, impregnated, .015 mfd., 400 volts What IS an Impregnated Cap and is there a difference of what I should order for a replacement ?? THANK YOU Marty |
I think you'll do fine with the standard mylars of today rated at 630 volts, much better than those old paper ones ever were. The preggy one may have had some oil in it?

An impregnated capacitor is one that is soaked in wax or something to keep out moisture. Presumably it would last longer that way.
Yes, almost any modern capacitor of similar rating would be fine. |
Hi All;
Thank You for your answers.. Mystery solved.. At least I can now make a list of Caps to order.. :banana: THANK YOU Marty |
