Spraying POTs

Out of curiosity, I have a can of "electronics lubricate spray" that is a rat shack brand.

Is this the same as deoxit and can be used on POTs?

Read the label to see what's in it. I don't use that stuff, nor do I use the deoxit. I have some stuff that is wonderful for that, but it's now considered hazardous and probably isn't available any more. Luckily I have a lifetime supply.

Basically you need to dissolve the dirt, if any, and smooth over any roughness of the pot element. Lubrication doesn't seem to be called for.

And that popular stuff, WD-40, I won't even allow in the house. It's expensive, ineffective, and smells bad. The label says it displaces water. Heck, so does everything else! Including more water...

One thing I hate about WD40, after a while it becomes a dust magnet.

Um, here's the label btw. Photographing a can sucks.

That just looks like their version of WD-40 to me. Not something for use on pots or switches. The "Deoxit M-100L" reference is confusing, but if you check Caig's website, that stuff is exactly that, their version of WD-40 (water displacer and lubricant) , not an electrical contact cleaner (like other DeOxit formulations).

Ok, I won't use it then.

I use 1,1,1 trichlorethene but I doubt you can buy it.
