Hi;
I just brought this beast home.
I get no hits on the 576MU at all.
The CRT is 21Yp4A.

With all that crud on the yoke "did it died?"

Any links or info welcome.
(I don't even know what year it is)

Just glancing at it, i'm guessing 1954-55.

The corroded crap around the yoke is the yoke cover plastic used in those days... popular for breaking down over time. They say WalMart bags will take millions of years to break down in landfills... but yet yoke covers of the mid-50's to early 60's fall apart after only a few decades. :D Typically, if you needed a new yoke, it did not include the cover... which is what fell apart later in life.

Yours doesn't look too bad yet. As long as you don't attempt to disturb it, you will likely be okay.

First, it's on its second (or third?) CRT. That's a Calvideo replacement jug. There is a fungus and/or decomposition eating away at the deflection yoke plastic pieces. Not much you can do but leave it alone until you determine if the yoke's bad.

I've had nothing but crickets chirping when I try to find info on my Halo-lite as well. I suspect yours is very early 1950's, judging from the construction; my first tv was a similar model sans Halo-Lite. Somewhere, lost to the ages, I have a copy of Wallace's Telaides I bought for nostalgic reasons that may have this listed. Until I find it, try this Sams' Photofact:

BTW, if it weren't Friday (when they close early) I'd suggest making a run to the Seattle main library, I dunno if the Tacoma main is open any later, but when I lived in Lakewood, I found regular Sams to be on file there. I don't think Pierce County has Sams at all.

My Halolite is a 1953 model.... the sams was easy to get. What other info do you want?

The Sylvania 576 series is found in Sams 285-14.... which claims to be published in 1955.

well you have a good memory, that must have been 25+ years ago.

The CRT tested with a possible G1 short, and was 0 on emmisions.
I rejuved it and it is now at the very bottom of the green.
Next I will test the tubes.
