Cleaning bakelite

WHICH or what is the best : for cleaning and polishing Bakelite, Simichrome or Novus plastic polish ?

I've used Meguier's Body Scrub & then gone over it after that w/a coat or 2 of their Pure Carnauba Wax, & had VERY good results...

I'm partial to the Novus #2. Great results on bakelite and even varnishes on wood cabinet sets.

W/my method of using the Meguier's products, you get pretty "Physical", & I'd recommend wearing clothes you wouldn't mind throwin' away..Maybe the Novus stuff is easier to use, & I guess some guys would use a polishing wheel, but I've always done it using my hands..I've worked on Bakelite w/Meguiers' & Flitz...Both seem to give comparable results, but "Going Over" it w/the carnauba wax afterwards seems to impart a lasting sheen..Bakelite, IMHO, shouldn't shine as much as it should "Glow"...

I've had really good results using hand glaze compound, the stuff for taking out swirl marks out of automotive paint finishes. It will clean and leave a nice protective sheen too. But it will give you a workout depending on how much crud is embedded.

Also works well on painted over bakelite finishes too, and good for minor scratches and blemishes.
