Well not actually on the Ship but in the movie about the ship. :yes:

These little guys seemed to have enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame shortly after the film came out in 97 and were selling on eBay for a nice sum, I found one some years later at the Thrift for about $10.

It's a neat looking Mod set even without the movie link.

Left picture the Titanic set, Right picture my set. They come with a removable smoked cover over the screen, not present in the movie or in my picture. It appears they used actual screen shots of the set operating, I thought they had to use special 24 frame monitors for that but no way they could have stuck a monitor inside this little cabinet.

I didn't set the knobs on my set to that position either, it just happened to be set that way!

As someone who knows about filmmaking, I usually shoot a TV using a 1/60th shutter at 24fps, and it will capture just fine, because it's not the frame rate, it's the shutter speed.

Mind you, a 1/30th shutter would be better, to get both interlaced fields instead of one, but I've run into some issues with that while filming 24fps.

Harry Poster (and likely others) can modify the chassis of a TV set to run at 24 frames per second, as well.

I find it better to just adjust the shutter speed of the camera. Easier, and no modifications required.

As long as the TV is playing something smooth like new video smooth, on 24fps it will look like a natural (though with the interlacing bobbing kinda slow). But no visible flicker.

I used to own a Sanyo made Magnavox that looked very similar.

I have a similar little Sears 9" set (I think it's a Toshiba).

Mine isn't quite the same Eames era looking cabinet of the little Titanic set.

That problem with the discharge from the spark arresters cleared up after cleaning the fuzzies off everything back there.
