Hello I think I have found old TV on website craigslist.

Pretty good chance its a Tube set.

zenithfan1 07-11-2012 06:37 AM

Yep, she's a tube set. Probably a 1967. Good luck, I hope you get it!

AiboPet 07-11-2012 06:39 AM

I like how he would LIKE it to go to someone who WANTS it...as a TV.

and he has "coffin" listed as many of the projects....LOL

magnasonic66 07-11-2012 07:02 AM

Yes, I hope you or someone just as enthusiastic as you gets it, before it goes the way of the fishtank, or landfill. :)

Likely a T920 chassis. Excellent sound from these! The original 25BP22 was a soft CRT though, I changed a few.

mstaton 07-11-2012 10:48 AM

It looks soft in the pic but may just need some TLC. Price is right though!

Yes it has vacuum valves and is a set to be displayed at the kings palace of the super elite in the public square full of glorious women.

Go get it, just dont drill holes in it or paint it silver.

On another note....look at the tags in this ad. (Tubes, Zenith, RCA, Vintage, Antique, GE, stereo, radio, hi-fi, )

Is this a scammer out to get phone numbers or email addresses?? The ad poster seems to know to much.....

freakaftr8 07-11-2012 05:21 PM

That's a beautiful magnavox! Go get it! Well help you get it working. If it doesnt already

zenithfan1 07-11-2012 06:17 PM

Come to think of it, I think I saw this ad about a year ago. That does seem weird. I have a few tube sets I would sell cheap if this is a scam or just don't pan out. Something seems gislan about this ad.

Carmine 07-11-2012 07:48 PM

The ad is for real. I have been trying to dump this set for at least a year.

*Interesting history... Around 1989 I was forced to do some door-to-door selling for a HS fund raiser. I knocked on the door of this lil' old lady that lived on the street, and when she opened the door I spotted this TV in her living room playing the local news. Even in 1989, it was fairly rare to see a 20+ year old set in regular use.

Fast forward to 2010 or '11 (I forget). I went to an estate sale at the home and found this set in the basement, hooked up to an antenna and plugged in. Seemed odd, because the woman appeared to have no children/family and the basement was unfinished. Who/why would anyone do this?

So $5 later and the set was mine. Problem is, it really has no place in my collection and there isn't much room at the inn. Still I can't bring myself to let it get dumpstered or morphed into a dog bed (as someone has already asked to do).

Have yet to hear from this Sanjarali, but I recall he lives in Dearborn which is a reasonably close suburb.

A very nice looking set. If I was closer, I'd snag it. Sets like these used to bring top dollar as used sets back in the mid 70s. Would make a great daily driver. Hope someone here can save it. I'd hate to see it get tanked.

For the longest time many of us thought Sand Jar Ali may have been a fictional troll.
I always really enjoyed his tortured spin on the language.
It would be neat if he is real and he pick this set up from you.
(sometimes I should really keep my mouth shut but its full of termites today)

BTW, with those tags i know it had to be someone who knew about tube sets or a scammer.

Tom S 07-11-2012 10:32 PM

I would take it If it were close to central WI. I had a set close to that in 73. My first color set. It is 1968 vintage and tubes for sure.
