Little bit of expansion when bright
I noticed that my Samsung, expands a little bit when the picture gets brighter. It's not by a lot, but it does it a little.. Is that ok? I noticed my Hitachi doesn't noticeably do it, but a 27" SHARP I have (2000's era), does it too..
I don't remember the old flyback transformer too much, but I don't think it did it, but it might have too.. Been a while since I seen the old transformer. |
When you draw more current (brighter setting) the high voltage droops and the picture gets bigger. It's unavoidable unless you regulate the high voltage.

Some of my BIGGER small sets do that (and "bigger" in my collection would be ...ummm...NOT big)
The Quasar "trashpicked" little 9" b/w set does that if I turn the brightness way up. WHOLE screen gets a little bigger (all the way around), and a little softer (H/V). The Sony 8-301 also does this....and some really wicked scanlines show up. This Sony is already in need of a recap though.....so this is completely excuseable. I'm just happy it even looks okay after being on about 10 minute until I get around to it. |
