I picked this up for $35 bucks in Vancouver Washington a couple weeks ago the lady said it worked but I had to pull the insides out to put it in my car safely and decided to recap it before I put it back together. I did both electrolytic and paper caps and 12 resisters I found to be a little out of tolerance and fired it up and what a nice picture it has the picture tube was replaced in 1963 and still checks like new :banana: I had seen a cabinet like this at a antique shop some time ago with the TV gone and hoped I would find one like it with the TV intact.

It looks like someone converted that set to use a glass CRT. Those sets are great performers. I have one simular to it, but mine has the 21AP4. Is the HV cage cover missing?

Is that just a reflection or is the 1B3 cooking?

That set is so reminiscent of my growing ups. If I'm not mistaken those set had to play both color and black and white as only some broadcasts were in color, most were in black and white. Color then is like HD now.

Wowzers, what a creampuff.:tresbon: That red plating 1B3 must be a reflection, 'cause none of the other tubes' heaters appear lit and there's no AC cord going to the interlock.

Its a newer RCA tube and that's the red writing on the tube the set is not on in that picture.

I have the cover for the cage I like to have it off when I work on sets to be sure the fly is not over heating.

Nice. That should give you a lot of TV enjoyment for $35!

Looks like the same 'deluxe' script and RCA button from a CTC-4.

These mid fifties sets are great watchers.

Must be an ethereal glow. I do not see the power mains connected so the glow is from elsewhere.
