DuMont focus pot

We're working on a DuMont RA-110 that's in our New Jersey Antique Radio Club museum and one problem is that the focus control is open. This is a 1,000 ohm 25 watt pot, and to my experience this is not a commonly available item.

A couple of questions:

These seem to be open in most of the DuMont sets I've worked on. Could this be an indication of a design flaw or be considered a "high failure" item?

Does anyone have a spare one?

Or any experience successfully substituting fixed power resistors with or without a pot of a different value?

Thanks!

They go bad often. Here is a source:

They work and fit perfect. I bought a few for spares.
