Good grief, 9 bids and $20.50 for this?

I never gave more than $10 for mine and I have quite a few NIB sets.

Strange since these are common as dirt and can be found NIB at thrift stores from time to time, this is a plain jane black case too.

Do these bidders realize it's nearly useless since the Digital changeover?

They do usually have Video and (sometimes) Audio inputs.

Got a sales flyer today from BJ's and they have a karaoke machine with one of these built in. Guess the bw crt production line will run at least a little bit longer!

Black and white CRTs are still being made?

I think they are........ Those sets are sold in truck stop/fuel centers all over. I remember seeing them just a little while ago while stopped for gas at a Pilot I think.... By now though, they should have a digital tuner........ I last saw one with radio style tuner, you know no clicking tuner.

I have plenty of five inch sets for parts, black and white and color. I wonder if I could take the boards from a digital converter box and build a digital portable tv with a crt. I would put the whole thing in a custom enclosure and run it off batteries. I know there are small digital portables today but they are of such low build quality.

Just before the DTV transition, one of our local variety stores had a ton of them for $14.99 each. Who would have ever thought that the day would come when one could buy a brand new TV for $15?

I've never seen one with a DTV tuner; but, if I ever did find one, I'd probably pick it up just for the novelty factor.

If there's a widescreen CRT version of these currently being sold in the U.S. I'd be very interested in getting one.

I think a few of these still get used as vehicle backup camera monitors, and possibly security camera applications.

Samsung should come out with a Slimfit CRT that is 9 inches and has a 4:3 display, color of course - and call it something like "DTV in a box."

I think I paid $20 apiece for like 5 of 'em several yrs ago...I think I saw 'em selling for $9.95 NIB at a drugstore right B4 the DTV business...They're pretty abyssimal, though. The Tv, as well as I remember, hadtuning problems, & the radio was about as sensitive as an old toilet seat...

I just picked up a 5" Panda brand TV in the original box. It was on the free pile at an estate sale. According to the instruction booklet it doesn't come with an AC adaptor or a car cord. Tried it with a universal DC adaptor and it seems to work fairly well, connected to cable. It's a TV only model.

I agree. I miss the DC restoration more than the color when I look at a modern B&W TV. Even back about 1976-77 when I had my first TV (a mid-60's 18"/19" set) and I learned what DC restoration was, I thought about pulling the brightness pot out and extending its wires about 5-10 feet so I could remotely "ride" the brightness as needed to make night scenes black.

They definitely still are for 9"-20" security-camera (CCTV) monitors.
