Does anybody know what station in Aussie had LINK 130 Cameras in service please ?

none that i know of?

Wasn't the 130 the auto set up camera? I remember the 110's and the 125's but not the 130.

According to a new contact of mine (Who designed this Chain ). Their where at-least four complete Chains sent to Australia !

Hi all

There are a few surviving Link 130s in the UK, I have 3 but only one has a lens. There is one other in the UK making 4. I would be very interested to know more about the Australian connection. As far as I am aware the ones that were exported were recalled back to the UK and destroyed.

It was indeed a full computer controlled auto set-up camera, perhaps this was it's Achilles Heel!

Impressive engineering achievement for an indie company~~they were naive to think they could ever make a return-on-investment~~considering how camera development/manufacture has even felled the giants

I understand the 130's were delivered and recalled because they had a habit of going into autosetup during live broadcasts. Does anyone on this list have specific details?

I don't think the software running the camera systems was ever completed. There was also software in the OCP and master set-up panel that all had to work together. My involvement was with the BBCs order for cameras to be installed in the 4 type 6 CMCRs that were being built. Its was at this time the cameras were recalled, the contract being unfulfilled and Link going into bankruptcy. I am not to clear of the order of these events. The Type 6 CMCRs had Thomson cameras in the end fitted with the re-engineered lenses from the Link 130 cameras.

Now BBC uses Sony HD which has only 1000 lines H res :saywhat: (not much better than a big Image Orthicon !)

Sony should sample with many more pixels but probably too hard to fabricate a 4k 2/3" microlens CCD ?
