I found this motorola
 

I saw this in a local flea market and really like it. just wondering if you guys could give me any information on what it is based on the limited information i have so far. It says its a 1968 on the price tag, not working/as is. I called the seller for more details but haven't heard back yet. I was short on time and there was to much junk in the way to try looking it over good. is says Quasar by the controls and the volume slider knob is missing. asking 75 bucks.

That was probably one of the lowest price Quasar sets at that time; I like it. Not too much of a space hog. I would try to negotiate that price as much as you can-half that price would be more realistic these days, but even at $75 you aren't getting hurt bad. It would be nice to know the condition of the crt. I could be wrong but that looks like a 21 or 22 inch, not the standard 23v (25AP22, etc.) tube. Could be tricky to find a replacement, if that is true.

Thanks for the info. i plan to offer 40 bucks and see which way he jumps...lol. I figure he either thinks its a goldmine or would be happy to have the room in his booth. would finding a replacement volume knob be a difficult task for a set like this?

Is the shaft still there? Those sliders were really bad about breaking off. In that case you'd have to replace the whole control. If all you need is the little knob, I bet somebody on here has one.

there was no shaft sticking out of the slot so I guess I would have needed the whole control if i had bought it. the guy called me and thinks he is sitting on a gold mine...lol. told me it's worth triple his asking price to a collector or for a movie prop. oh well, I still have my Admiral and will just keep looking for a Bakelite Admiral set.

Pass. There's LOTS more-And BETTER-fish in the sea.

Let him eat it. Eventually he will regret not selling it while he had the chance. If there are a lot of people rushing to pay that kinda money for sets like this, I haven't met them.

Usually that door on those bakelite Admirals is missing. Odd that this set has its, but the channel and fine tuning knobs' missing. But these are fairly common.

I have read how rare the doors are on the old sets. I'm lucky that my current Admiral has the door intact as well. I sure wish I could get that set but all my ''play'' cash is devoted to my 72 beetle project right now plus it's 7 hours each way and about $200ish in fuel in my s-10. I sure hope someone on here picks it up though.

The set is a Quaser/Motorola TS 915. It is also known as the works in a drawer because the whole chassis pulls out from the front for service.It
is modular is design for quick service

It was the FIRST all solid state TV built and also the first with a rectangular
picture tube.

I have some of the parts, including the missing knob and possibly
also the slide pot for the one missing. I also have a new picture tube
in the original box. The set is a 25" but was later redesiginated as 23"

If I can help you in any way get the set I'd be glad to, I'm going to hold off for an older bakelite Admiral like the one i linked above. I don't even know how to work on these things yet so I don't need a bunch of non-workers around yet. But once I crack this foreign language you guys speak and figure these things out then my ''collection'' will build:yes:

When I find myself on the fence, I often wish someone else would buy the set so I can stop thinking about it :)

I want it very bad and have spoken to the seller a few times about it. it's just the distance,time off work and fuel price that hinders me. Now if there were someone kinda local that would be willing to grab it for me until I can make it up there I'd be all over it.:D
