Estate sale TV and Radio. I asked what models but no response yet. Looks like a 50's set. He says 40's.

The TV is early 50's, possibly a Zenith, not sure about the Radio/Phono

The radio/phono is an early 1950s GE. I have a 1950 GE TV/Radio/Phono combination that has the same radio. I have also worked on a blonde version of the one pictured.

The model for the TV is Zenith Model K2235R. Got an email last night

One comment about the GE AM/FM radio. GE was cheap, even in 1950. They use one of the tubes as both the FM RF amp and one of the FM IF amps in the radio pictured. It works ok, but the Zeniths of that era are much better. (Another example of GE cheapness, the TV in the 1950 combo that I have is series string, no power transformer. According to ads that I have seen, it cost $500 in 1950, about half the price of a car. Seems like GE could have put a transformer in at that price!)

I think the cars were well over a thousand dollars at that time. The GE AM-FM radios at that time had a power transformer, where the TV didn't.

My grandfathers 1953 Ford Customline cost $1200 brand new. Even the 1963 Ford Falcon that I have only cost $1700. I have the original titles.

The less expensive cars were not much over $1000 in 1950!
