Me-TV is coming to Cleveland on August 1. It will be carried by WOIO subchannel 19.2 and it will also be carried by Time Warner Cable in the Cleveland area on channel 987.

Are you sure about that? In the first place, CBS in my area 35 miles east of Cleveland is on channel 4 -- not W-010 as you say. Second, channel 19 in my area is dead blank, again with the CBS coming in over station 4. Third, I wouldn't be able to get "MTV-e" (why is MTV broadcasting on another subchannel when the darn thing is already on 33) on channel 192 if I wanted to. My TV's tuner only goes up to channel 125, and even then every channel above 99 is dead blank. I would like to know where you got this information.

Remember, we are talking about Over The Air (OTA) channel numbers, not cable channels.

Hi Jeffhs! I got the information from Time Warner Cable's website under "programming notices".
I know many people have trouble getting channel 19 in Cleveland over-the-air.
TWC's channel 987 which will be carrying Me-TV starting August 1 in the Cleveland area will be available if you have digital cable from them and for that you need a simple set-top converter box. You can use it on any old TV from the past.
If you can't receive channel 19 OTA where you live you might want to try putting a pre-amplifier on your antenna (usually an outdoor antenna is best).
Me-TV has classic programming from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. I have read somewhere that it stands for "memorable entertainment".
I am glad Me-TV is finally coming to Cleveland.

I don't know about channel 19. I get CBS in my area on cable on channel four, and channel number 19 on my TV is dead blank. It's one of the scourges of living in the sticks where I am -- this area doesn't get much at all on TV without cable. Kinda' makes me wish I never left my old neighborhood, a Cleveland suburb that got all seven local TV stations without cable. As to what you call "channel 192", I don't know about that either. As I said in my last post, my TV's tuner only goes to channel 125, and every station above 99 is blank. I do not get "channel 987" either. Is there any way, any way at all, I can get this channel, MeTV--MTVe--or whatever it is--without messing with converter boxes and looking for channels my TV doesn't get?

No, you can't get channels on cable above 99 or 125, I am not sure what the cutoff number is, without a converter box. So, unfortunately you couldn't get Me-TV (channel 987) from Time Warner Cable without a converter box. If you get a box you could use it with your Zenith and RCA TVs you have mentioned so many times.
The cable companies want to move everyone to digital cable packages so they can make more money.
By the way I enjoy all your postings.

"19-2," not "192." DTV channel 19, sub-channel 2. If it is cable channel "192" you'd need a converter box to receive it.

Talk about confusing! I do not think there is such a channel as 19-2. My TV only gets whole number channels, and all my life, as long as I can remember, TV has been broadcast on whole number stations. Where this 19-2 nonsense came from is way beyond me.

Some use a "." as well. On my S0ny HDTV, the sub-channels for ch 22 (for example) are shown as 22.1, 22.2, 22.3 and 22.4 instead of the usual 22-1, 22-2, 22-3, and 22-4 shown by a Zenith ATSC converter box.

Well that nonsense came from our federal government when we transitioned to digital over the air tv. Any tv with a digital tuner or digital converter box will get channel 19-2. Now, if you think the sub channels are confusing how about this--channel 19 is channel 19 only because the broadcaster says it is. In fact it may be on RF channel 46 or any other channel. It's digital channel would still be 19 regardless of what frequency it is actually transmitted on.

Indeed! according to the wikipedia link that I posted in the 3rd post in this thread, "19" actually is transmitted OTA on ch 10.

Cleveland WOIO 19's channel 24 is a low-power repeater for rural areas that broadcasts on analog channel 24 and it is operational now. Digital WOIO remains on digital channel 10, though I wonder how they can stay there when neighboring channel 10 in Ontario, Canada goes digital with the digital switchover in Canada on September 1 this year. Talk about nonsense!
Anyway I'm happy that Me-TV is coming to the Cleveland area on August 1. They show very good programs.

The construction permit is for a "LD" Digital television translator station located near Akron... perhaps to replace the analog 24?
