Can anyone tell me if this Flyback will substitute ?

I have a Zenith mayflower chassis 28F22 , the fly inside the set is number S17669 , the sams says it is supposed to be zenith part number S15015 , it was probably put in there because the original was dead , i'd like to know if anyone can tell me if that S17669 can sub or is this someones hope to get the set running again?
Thanks
Mike

I have a very comprehensive Thordarson book and it confirms the S15015. (some versions apparently used an S-15709 but the details are vague) I cannot find a mention of the S17669 anywhere but it would have been from the era of the 22H20/22 chassis, something like that. I can't say whether or not it will work, but I would guess not. I have a Mayflower and it has one of the ugliest flybacks I've seen, but thankfully it still works fine. Maybe I can move it enough to read the number on it.

I agree with Bryan. The S15015 crosses to a Fly 53, but I can find no reference to the S17669 number in any of my cross refs (Thordarson, Stancor, RAM, Merit). Are you sure about that number?

The only way i could be off is if one of the 6 numbers is an 8 , i measured the restiance and thats right , as far as functioning it was put in the set sometime ago so perhaps it does work or will work , i thought maybe someone would have the info on the two and i'd have the answer ... thanks for the help so far guys

Wow! One size fits all! Wonder why S17669 does not show in the xrefs?

I wonder if it is a supercession number, perhaps an improved version that Zenith offered for replacement in later years? I checked mine and it uses the S15015.

John
thank you so much , this does indeed help others for future porthole fly problems , thanks to everyone else too , now to figure out what is wrong with the set , fly tests good and this confirms the fly is useable
