What vintage TV will you watch Oprah's last episode on?
 

I'm really in a deep state of depression today, knowing that the last episode of Oprah will air this afternoon at 4 PM. I don't know how I would have survived all these years had she not been around for support and spiritual guidance. And, I'm afraid my life will be a total wreck, now that I'll no longer have her show to watch everyday.

This historic even is bigger than the DTV transition and I think I'll place every old TV that I own in rows and on top of each other so that I can watch this historic event on all of them at the same time.

LOL, you probably thought I was being serious! Actually, I couldn't give a flip about the Oprah show going off the air and I probably won't even tune in. The one thing I can say about her show is that her guest know how to behave, unlike Maury Povich or Jerry Springer. And, I wonder what they'll put in her place (probably more stupid crap). I've got a feeling it won't be re-runs of "Gunsmoke", "Kojak", or "The A-team".

Well I am totally in the dark. Had no idea her show was going off the air. As I get older I find it easy to ignore lots of stuff lol.

never watched her show except when george bush was on.he was selling his book.other than that,i could not care less about "doprah".

Well, you COULD pile a bunch of barely-working BPC TVs on top one one another, all tuned to Orca, & then drive a '75 or so model LTD or Caprice thru 'em & have a friend or 2 video the whole thing...Have ol' Orca go out w/a big, greasy BANG...Gee, I'm mean, ain't I ?!? (grin)

I couldn't give two shits about the show quite frankly. My mother is a huge fan though, which is how I know about it.

Reminds me of the time I saw an article about 35 years ago in some newsrag about a bar that sets up an old sacrificial TV set to be destroyed when Howard Cosell appears on Monday Night Football. A designated brick tosser aims a brick at the CRT when Howard is displayed... Probably a set we'd want to collect today. :sigh:

Actually, I stole my ideer from the Ant Farm-you know, the guys that created the "Cadillac Ranch" in Texas...They did the same thing in '76, 'cept they used a '59 Caddy coupe DeVille, & called it "The Media Burn". Their TVs were set afire, too, which was a nice touch...Mbwahahahahahaha...

I think there was a Wendy Williams and the Plasmatics video once where a schoolbus was driven through a giant wall of vintage sets.

I'm sure there was at least 10 X 17.2 squared metric gallons of tears bawled out on that last show...Wasn't that one of the things that Okra was famous for ?

Looked it up - "The Damned" is the song. Not my bag, but don'tcha know when they zoom into the wall of TVs I see a '64 Philco just like mine :) There's also an early-50's round CRT set in there.

How refreshing to give credit to Oprah!
 

I have actually read much criticism of her but not one thing that makes sense.
I think she is an angel from heaven and one of the most deserving people on the planet. I have said as much before here without anybody else adding to it I suppose because it came from me.
So, it is nice that a favored member here is giving credit where it is due :)

I watched on my Sony 27" to get a modern accurate picture. If I had a high-quality flat panel I would have used it. I usually just watch time period correct things on my special sets.

I bet your mother is a very smart and special person who knows more than most people here in terms of what should matter to all of us :)

Oprah was just WAY Too Full Of Herself-as are 99.9% of the other chat-show types for me. The only one I can take-and then only in small doses-is Jerry's show, 'cause it makes no pretentions as to what it is-a Po' White Trash Extravaganza of making utter & complete raw fools of themselves on national TV.

All we seen here was tornado coverage...

Many people say Oprah is "full of herself". I would so very much appreciate any one of those people that would explain exactly how she should be in order to be what they think she should be. From all I can tell she has done an incredible level of good in educating many people throughout the world to be better in every imagineable way.
Are all of our mothers, wives and well-educated men and women from all walks of life wrong or somehow blind sighted in their belief that she is an incredible person in every way that deserves all she has and more?
It really blows my mind to realize how some people dislike her without any logical explanation or understandable reason.
