That's a pretty rare Transvision from 1945.

Looks like a Transvision. Most used a 7EP4. That appears to have been changed out to a 7G or 7J. The start price is fair. If you win, pick it up. It won't ship with the CRT hanging in that way.

A friend of mine has his Transvision that he built in '45-'46. It is in the same configuration as seen in the above photos. He told me he built it without a multimeter, as he could not afford one. When he did the initial powerup, he had no raster. By modifying a photo light meter into a continuity tester using a 9v battery, he tested all of the hv resistors until he found one that was open, and cured the problem.

The seller found out this is actually a collectors set and has posted a bunch more pictures.

The original 3 channel tuner is gone, someone changed it out to a later model. The empty hole is where the original fine tuning control was.

Probably done the same time the CRT wiring was changed to use the 7GP4/7JP4.

Bid is at $150.00 and 5 days to go....whats it worth????

The transvision set at http://www.earlytelevision.org/transvision_kit.html is probably worth $1500-$2500. Comparible to other rare TVs RCA 621s and Temple 1776s. I think the one in this auction is worth considerable less since it is in pretty bad condition missing the original tuner and with a newer CRT. Worth is very subjective- maybe $300-$800 in the current condition.

It went for $821.
