Factory or Frankenset?
2 Attachment(s)
Someone sent me pictures of their old set wanting information but I've never seen this one before.
The set is an RCA, is the cabinet factory or custom? |
IDK; but, I'd guess it's not original. To me, it looks like someone took a late '20 radio cabinet and modified it for this TV.
|
I seem to remember seeing cabinet models like this in an RCA catalog so I think it is factory...it seems to fit in very well. However, I have never seen one of this style of cabinet in person. The chassis looks like a CTC-30.

To each their own but that looks like Model T with a set of mag wheels...an incongruous combination.
|
If someone was going for a wood furniture decor it looks nice. But to each their own.

Radiola meets XL-100! If a conversion, it was very well done.

hinges and door pulls and the cabinet itself have a modern look to them but the base looks old to me - even the finish looks not to match
top looks very well done if it is a conversion |
I'd say it's a furniture company model. Ethan Allen sold TV sets with various GE and RCA chassis. That's my guess.

Thats way too clean of an installation to be a frankenset. I too remember somewhere I have seen a set like this too.
|
BTW, does that set have electronic tuning? "wheres the knobs" lol

I can almost guarantee that chassis is a CTC-21. I would LOVE to get hold of that set. If they are willing to part with it, I would get shipping arranged. Please PM me!!!!!!
