Identify this TV, any good?

Hi gang!
I was just browsing my local craigslist and came across this console set.

Any idea what it is? Is it any good?:scratch2:

It's a 23" Zenith from the late '70's-early '80's. It could be a chromacolor II (ideal) or a System 3 chassis. Both used the same control layout. The System 3 sets were not as well built and gave more problems than the CCII; but, they still produced a good picture when they were working properly.

that one is a keeper.the 23v crt produces a tremendous picture.imho better than the 25v version.as mentioned before,it is a chromacolor or system 3.could be an early inline set also.those werent as good but the crts are very sharp.this needs to be saved!

If it's a System 3, it uses a rare, odd-ball CRT, 23VCRP22. Those tubes were "rebuild only" in 1989, and were not available over the counter. They didn't last very long either.

If it's bad, good luck finding one.

during our vast experamentations back in the late 60s and all through the 70s,we found that all 23v and 25 standard tube enterchanged.they would show a picture.the zenith 23v s seemed to be the better of the lot.the 23v inline was very sharp, but had a short life, you are correct.we kept notes on our madness.somewhere i have them.the results of our swaps.this was the most fun i ve ever had.we were the picture tube kings here in columbus, ohio.my personal favorite crt is the sylvania 25vdmp22 with the zenith black matrix a close 2nd.rca made some outstanding crts, also.the best rebuilds were vdc, channelmaster, and empire.i saw a few magnachromes and they looked very good.dont know of their longevity.i would grab that zenith if it were closer

If nothing else, if it uses the old delta-gun crt it is worth getting just for the picture tube. A great transplant for a 60s rectangular set.
