Need help finding two previous threads

Hi guys! I've just finished recapping an Emerson 639 and checking a great many of its resistors, but I've got two problems which I think were covered here in two threads from the not too distant past. Your help in locating them would be most appreciated.

1) I'm getting spurious spiking in the video that produces random disturbances in the picture as well as disrupting horizontal sync. Tomorrow I'm going to check from the detector on through both the video and sync portions of the set to see if I can find where this is coming from. But I also remember a thread where someone had this same problem and solved it by doing a diode clip on the video before it got split off to the sync separator, etc. Can you point me to this thread?

2) I think there was a thread concerning a retrace blanker for 7JP4s which might be helpful in jacking up the brightness of this set. The tube is in remarkable shape, but it would be nice to see a picture on it in a well-lit office without having to lower the lights. Anybody remember this one?

Many thanks for suggestions.

You might be thinking of my thread on a Motorola VT71 ?

Here's a reprint of an old article at the ETF on retrace blanking.

That looks like it. I'll let you know tomorrow if this solves the problem(s). Many thanks.
