That looks like one of those prison TV's that some nutjob was trying to sell on ebay for $300. Anyway, I wouldn't mind having one of these if it were closer. Besides that early '80's digital tuning Zenith, this is probably the only other B&W with electronic tuning.

Too bad it ain't a CT-100...or even, hell's bells, a late '40s 7" set...THAT would be something...

I don't understand the fascination with the prison sets. They're just BPC in a clear case. In what way are they collectable?

They're not really collectable, just something different.

I gave up long ago informing silly eBay sellers that these are not R-A-R-E. I suspect you could get a steady supply by visiting the pawn shop closest to your state prison. Probably the first thing that a guy dumps when he gets out of the joint.

I used to have a 13" RCA color set that was in a clear case and I sold it. The only reason I'd want one of the clear B&W sets would be because they are late model and have electronic tuning, which is unusual for a B&W set.

To gain such a television could give me help in understanding the actions of electricity? :thmbsp::thmbsp: A man far-seeing the way of movement. :scratch2::smoke:

When I was in Atlanta back in the early '80's, we did service for Georgia Dept. of Corrections. They had a load of Sampo color sets. They ate flybacks, and little else. They were installed behind a piece of glass or something like that.

Sampo had a big assembly plant there in the area. We bought flybacks from them by the case. 24 at a time.

Not collectible, but clear stuff is cool, at least to me. Specifically, otherwise-standard devices in see-through cases, as opposed to the phones and things with silly flashing lights and brightly-painted parts inside.
