Anyone wanna take a guess...
At what this RCA set is??
Definately not 70's or 80's. The changer looks more like 1964/65 era. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/zip/1896947317.html |
My WAG is mid 60s Magnavox 23" B/W.

That is a Magnavox changer from the '62-'65 time period. Around '66-'67, Magnavox went to a more modern looking changer with a slim metal tonearm.
I will say that it's not often that I see something where the owner predicts that it's newer than it actually is. Usually, it's the other way around - an '80's/'90's console that the owner thinks is from the '50's/'60's. |
looks like my maggie B&W with the C36 chassis and based on the TT an astrosonci (like mine).
|
Ahh! I should have known this! Duh, you guts are right. I looked at my RCA's and way different. I looked at my Magnavox and sure nuff thats it.
On the other hand, I was also thinking the cabinet looked too shallow to be a color set.. I emailed the guy. Awaiting a response. i would just go pick it up in the truck, but I got my kid tonight. |
nice set, Its my daily driver for B&W programing. and the astro sound good too, it prob has the 12" drivers and horns. Maybe the remote also.
|
Well here's the front. With a cataracts like that it's gotta be a color set. Looks like the base model with no remote. CRT almost looks like a 23EGP22. Oh boy, here comes the fun. Im going to pick it up tomorrow.

jr PS: Magnavox made a fair number of 27" sets in that era... so that is another possibility. (could only find a 1962 ad) http://www.tvhistory.tv/1962-Magnavox-Brochure-1.JPG |
I go with 23" B&W late 60s/early 70s; RARE to see a B&W that new with that deluxe of a model. I seem to remember noticing that they were still making those bigger 23" B&W tubes for school/hospital use in the 70s, and hence the bonded glass.

think the B&W have a rounder edge on the mask, you may have a color!

Don't keep us hangin'
did you get it? color or B&W? |
I asked the guy to hold it for me. He said he would. I had to make an emergency trip for work.... :(
|
any update?
|
looks like i missed this one... I do hope that whoever picked it up will take care of it and not destroy it. The guy put it on the side of the house and the story I got is he thought it was me that came and grabbed it.

oh well sometimes they just get away.
