Tele-O-Master Handy Vision
4 Attachment(s)
I grabbed this little set off the Goodwill Auction Site, it's amazingly clean!
It's a "Tele-O-Master" Handy Vision by Tokyo Denshi, I can't find a model number, anyone know the year this was made? Looks like it was styled after the low buck 1957 GE 9" set but it's built more like the RCA 8" inside with Japanese quality and attention to detail throughout. The chassis is brightly plated and looks nearly new. Some of the internal parts are American, I see some Cornell Dublier Caps inside, not sure about the tubes, the CRT looks like the 8DP4 in the RCA except it's Aluminized and has no Ion trap. UPS knocked the HO tube out of it's socket but after I reinstalled it the set worked! |
Neat. I looked up Tokyo Denshi and they still exist as a subsidiary of a larger Hong Knog company mainly marketing pots, switches & variable resistors.
I like the name "Tele-O-Master." Kind of corny, in a cute way. I'm glad it survived shipping - that seems to be the greatest danger these old sets face. |
Any idea when it was made? In the radio world, it seems like Japanese imports started flooding in around the early 1960s.

What a funky little set! Great find.

It's no wonder there's never any interesting old stuff at our local Goodwill. Whenever people mentioned Goodwill finds, I always assumed they found the items at their local stores. Yep, I live in my own litte world. :scratch2:
But thats a cool TV! Kevin |

Thats really neat!
I'd be curious as to when it was made too? Is the entire case plastic? |
