Hi, I am in Milwaukee, WI and I have acquired an old TV set that appears to be from the 1950's or earlier. The only markings I can find is on the cabinet, which is stamped WG #900. The tag inside says Television serial 318T9-900, and the handwritten serial number on the tag says 107581. Can anyone tell me about this set? The only google reference I can find points to Montgomery Ward, but I can find no further information. Also, besides finding out about the manufacturer and getting a possible date, is there anyone in WI who may want this set?

Wards sold Airline sets back then. The WG sounds right, but I'm not familiar with a '900'. Have you looked at these pages ?

The "WG" probably refers to Wells-Gardner, who made sets for Wards.

Thank you Bob. It appears this is something along the late 1940's to very early 1950's. Most of the sets listed in the late 1940's don't have a picture, so I cannot be sure. Any idea on what sets of this vintage would sell for?

The best I can tell you is that I've picked up around 20 vintage (late 40s) sets locally in the last two years. The average I payed was about $75 each.

Vintage sets are a bit more common around our area and I think that hurts the local value a bit. Unfortunately, they're tough to ship :(
