Does anybody else like to watch The Lawrence Welk Show?

Many times I find it to be hilarious in a way I have difficulty explaining. It amazes me that the elderly would watch with pleasant admiration and not think most every bit of it really s--ks. I find the constant high level of enthusiasm from the actors in every goofy skit to be part of what makes me laugh. Also, the truly... (I am trying to think of a better word than "cheesy")... cheesy renditions of many great songs. One of my favorites is when The Lennon Sisters perform "Georgy Girl". I just love it! It's on youtube. Plus, Two of those girls seem like the most perfect sexy mom's on could ever hope to marry. Bonnie Hunt played that clip on her show with herself in place of one of the girls. That was mildly funny. Bonnie does a very good show often.

What is funny is to play a music radio station with the tv on Mute while watching lawrence welk you would be surprised how funny it can be as they sing to snoop dog or some other kind of music.:yikes:

I grew up watching it, and still do occasionally if I'm not working. I enjoy the dixieland numbers the most.

Grew up watching it and still do. A great orchestra. They assembled some of the finest musicians and the arrangements are interesting. They had their own sound.

I have become able to appreciate the orchestra. Being of a lower level of education my music tastes have been towards pop music in general. What I wrote earlier must come across as thinking less of the show than it deserves. I intend no disrespect to it or it's fans. I am a fan. I love it from many perspectives. It makes me feel a little more connected to my grandparents and others from previous generations. I feel privilaged to be able to see it. As much as I might poke fun at much of it I also realize how great it all is.
