I like how it used a whole bunch of the same knobs as the VT71s. The holes in the side seem odd. Are they for adjustments :scratch2:

I like the "air suspension" speaker (ok, more like "Air cone"). I wonder what became of the cone? Eaten by insects perhaps?
And the two rectifiers right in the back with a heat deflector look neat. Bet that is good for a cold winters night.
What kind of rectifiers are they? An unusual brand of 5U4 or a commercial/military rectifier? The glass tube bulges out past the diameter of the base..

I think the glass bulging is an illusion. To me it looks like the glass is straight. The sockets seem to stick up fairly high under the base.

Assuming that's a TS-5 or TS-7 chassis, those are 5U4Gs.

I think I have seen radio/phono consoles with a tilt-out drawer for the turntable. Philco comes to mind.

It looks like the side holes have little caps that you pull out to reach the adjusters. I wonder how many of those caps ended up in people's boxes of mystery junk?

My guess is that the tubes have been replaced, a 5U4G IIRC, would have a "coke bottle" shape. These look like a fairly large diameter straight tubular envelope mounted on a "stepped diameter" base... I believe that I have seen "Military" 5U4s (or perhaps 5R4s) with this type of construction.

I have one of those sets in my collection. It is hard to see in the picture but the plastic thing above the knobs has the channel numbers in it. A light moves behind them as the channel knob is turned. The side holes are for the secondary adjustments. That set is missing a side knob that is used to adjust the vertical and horizontal holds. There was one knob to make those adjustments. You pulled it off one shaft and stuck it into the hole for the other adjustment. It seems odd but according to the Motorola manual there was just one knob.

Thats a beautiful set! I checked and Jordan MN. is North and West of Duluth. Absolutely georgeous country up there. Probably 12-14 hours from Chicago:thumbsdn:. Too far. Probably too far for even Minneapolis! My Mom is in Rhinelander WI and its too far. I hope there are some TV Buffs up there in the Northwoods.
