packard bell bw remote metal cabinet astronaut

Heres another SC set. vhf only remote set. I think I grabbed this as a space filler to keep things from rolling around in the truck. I started looking at it today. The crt is DEAD. With 9 volts on the filament I can just get the needle into the red. All metal everything. Made right here in Las Angeles. 19t13

I think that one would be worth finding a CRT for.

Uhh-huh...Kinda rare, I'd think...

power tranny and 5u4 in a portable with remote?

Yeah, get a CRT for that one.

ctc17 05-11-2010 11:15 PM

Well I would need the remote too. Where would I even start to look for that. I have another set I could use as a crt doner.

I remember stuffing an extra blanket or two in front to protect that channel knob. I'd fix that one up myself.

I think it works a little but dimly: seems they were broadcasting a picture of a guy with a camera?

ctc17 05-12-2010 09:33 PM

I wonder how many hours the set has on it to fade the crt..? 30,000 or something. I guess that wouldnt be hard to do over a period of 10 years.

What number is the CRT?
I have a Setchell Carlson with a new but incorrect tube I'd be willing to donate.
I'll have to check on the number.

I'll have to pull the back and see but I'm sure it has more letters in the number than that, not a good sign for interchange I don't think.

Eric H 05-13-2010 10:51 PM

19CKP4, anyone have an interchange book?

Edit: completely different pinout
