Hard to tell, but I think its a Roundie...Didn't Zenith make one that had a black-lacquer "Chinese" finish ?

freakaftr8 04-28-2010 06:59 PM

It's a roundie alright! You can see the cataract ring in pic no.2

bandersen 04-28-2010 07:00 PM

I thought it might be a roundie too. No way I can handle it, but maybe someone else can save it from being fishtanked ?

DaveWM 04-28-2010 07:16 PM

Geez somebody up there save that poor roundie.

that part of the country is target rich with nice tv's

rca2000 04-28-2010 07:26 PM

COULD IT BE a Zenith 29JC20 or 27KC20??

Looks like a Zenith to me--with NO uhf!!

AUdubon5425 04-29-2010 03:14 AM

If that set were in spitting distance I would actually consider giving $150 for it - such a nice looking set!

zenithfan1 04-29-2010 09:54 AM

OMG. I want that sooooo bad but I can't afford it right now. If there's anyone in the Chi-town area that wants to buy it just to save it, I would gladly buy it from you in a week or so.

I think that's an RCA, maybe a ctc-15. I think all the Zenith chinese cabinet roundies, the black ones too, had hinged doors like mine, not like the sliding ones like on that set:

kx250rider 04-29-2010 10:47 AM

I think it's a Magnavox. See the pointy channel knob?

freakaftr8 04-29-2010 10:54 AM

Agree with Kx250rider, I had a magnavox (well Airline to be exact) and yes the boat knob looks to be a magnavox (could be an Airline too). Deff not a Zenith, the CRT bezel's not green and the shape looks different where the Zenith is more flat. Beautiful set!

zenithfan1 04-29-2010 11:29 AM

My first thought was RCA but Magnavox fits the description as well. Someone save this one! not many nice lookers like this left, only boring brown and blonde wood over and over....

Well, it's gonna happen again if someone don't jump on it. It will end up like the Zenith combo in the dumpster, but only the guts. I just talked to the guy named Vito on the phone and he said that if no one buys it it's getting fish tanked or a flat screen put in. He says he's packing a bunch of stuff up and it has to go SOON. He is hesitant to come off of $200 but I think this particular set is worth that. I don't have it and probably won't for about a week or two. Someone needs to go and grab this thing even if they don't want it. Like I said in my earlier post, I would buy it from whomever if that were the case. I just don't want to see such a beauty ruined and I'm sure most of you don't either:no:
BTW, it is an RCA of about 1964.

Whirled One 05-03-2010 08:23 PM

That is a pretty neat-looking set. I might even be interested if Doug or someone else in Chicago-land could buy it and hold it for me. ...Assuming, of course, Doug (or whomever) doesn't want it themselves..! :)

Adam 05-03-2010 08:45 PM

If it were closer, I'd have been after it already, but I really don't have time to make another drive to the Chicago area in the next 2 weeks or so. I hope someone here can get it in time.
