Sweet. Do all RA-103 tuner knobs have that little round dealie on the edge? I have a plain one.

Amazing they shipped that heavy TV in such a small box. Someone told me those were the days when guys loading trucks and trains moved things carefully.

Dunno about Dumont, but Westinghouse sets were box packed and then placed in a wooden crate "cradle". A friend has a set of shelves in his post-WWII-era garage made with Westinghouse TV crates. "Westinghouse Television" and "Fragile - Kinescope" are stenciled on most of the boards. The boards are dingy now, but he thinks them to be made of poplar.

I've seen some pretty flimsy boxes for TVs. I have a new-in-the-box Motorola VT-71 7-inch set, and that box is barely bigger than the TV. Of course, that little electrostatic cheapie is about 80 lbs lighter than the DuMont. I also have a box for a large Zenith 23" color console from the 60s, which is basically a cardboard and wood pallet with heavy cardboard box over it. Has a fake Christmas tree stored inside.
