I've been offered an RCA "New Vista" Color Console.
 

A person I met through work recently offered me an older RCA color console that's been sitting in his basement since he bought his house. I haven't seen the set yet, but he did mention that it said "New Vista Color" on the front. Now, I know that RCA used the New Vista moniker on a bunch of stuff, originally referring to the nuvistor used in TV tuners, but I was wondering if this would be a good clue that this set may be a tube set, or possibly even a roundie? Did RCA ever make a solid state color set that carried the New Vista name?

Yeah, that phrase alone says it's worth getting. Years ago, I had one of those early CTC40's. It still carried the "RCA Victor" name and said "New Vista Color Solid State" on the control panel.

I have two CTC-11s. Terrific sets to watch, once you're done, and neither of them required extensive electronic work. Unlike older TVs, many of the small capacitors are Mylar, so you don't have to automatically replace all of them.

I too have a CTC-11 that "worked" out of the box - in fact I put a video on Youtube about it. I haven't had the chance to dive into it yet but will soon - I'm going to start with recapping the power supply and remote chassis and go from there.

Anyhow, "New Vista" sets are definitely worth an effort to save and fix or pass on.

My CTC 10C chassis has been with me since 1975, and has had 2 electrolytics replaced in the power supply, and one disc capacitor on the base of the HV regulator tube. I've never touched any alignments, other than the horiz. oscillator. It has an acceptable color picture, too.

The Owner of the set sent me the dimensions of the Cabinet today. It's 30" wide, 32" tall and 19.5" deep. This sounds too shallow for a roundie. I'm guessing a rectangular tabletop set that may have had screw on legs at one time? The set has a wooden cabinet.
