Zenith Rectangular

I came across a rectangular color zenith and picked it up I guess this is the model after the 25MC33 roundie from what I was told .. It isnt the hybrid model but I may pick that one up too if they are worth the trouble, any ideas on reliability? They are still in storage I also picked up a B&W Emerson console and a Motorola Console B&W with UHF a couple of dumonts are also available any ideas on them?

The Zenith was in too far deep to get a picture but here is the emerson and Motorola B&W, I will add the zenith later

The Zenith should be an outstanding set; with a little care they can be as reliable as any tube color set.

The BW sets could vary quite a bit. The Emersons I've seen were pretty straight forward, the Motorolas not too bad but they can get a little strange sometimes. Later DuMonts are badge-engineered Emersons, older ones are something else entirely.

Is the Hybrid Zenith worth paying a few bucks more for? I havent actually paid for the Hybrid but I own the standard Zenith. I would like to have it but he hinted it might cost more but didnt say for sure.

Does the Emerson work? mine did not take much.

Yes it works I will have it gone through just for safety sakes, not sure what I will do with it after that I am running out of Direct tv IF to connect to.My box is maxed with 7 Tv's now

I use my B&W for B&W programming, just looks better IMHO

I have to agree with that, my roundies tend to have the color pixels in the 1962 gunsmoke shows that are B&W even my modern sets do not show good B&W

The hybrid Zeniths are excellent sets; they probably make as nice a picture as you'll see on anything with a tube on the chassis. That said, I wouldn't dump a huge amount of money in one since there isn't that much demand.

any zenith with a delta crt is worth saving.i really dont think they made a bad set from 1962-1980.all of them are keepers.the sharpest picture i ever saw was a zenith hybrid with a 25v in it.never saw reds so deep.watched an ohio state basketball game on it in a furniture store.price tag was 100.00.back then,i didnt have much money.if only i could find it today......

Ok I will pick it up then, I have all of the others home with the exception of an unknown to me it looks very interesting but not familiar with RCA Victor 50's color models.
