I just happened to have posted a YouTube video showing how to do it for about $10 using a BT video modulator. I'm using a DVD player, but I could just have well have used an HDTV converter. A network takes an old analog show, digitizes it, compresses it and broadcasts it. I receive it, decode it, modulate it and rebroadcast in NTSC :D

Bonus - it works on every analog set I have (and maybe my neighbors too :para:)

Is there a simple way to convert an HDMI cable to a 300-ohm signal? Sounds pretty tricky to me, as some conversion from HDMI digital to analog RF needs to take place.

Radio Shack has an RF modulator for converting composite video to 75 Ohm and then you can use a 75-300 Ohm converter but I haven't seen anything for converting HDMI or component video.

Just curious - why would you need to? Is there a device that only outputs HDMI ? Blu-ray player maybe :scratch2:

Even the $78 Walmart Blu-Ray Player has a composite video output. All you would need is a cheap RF modulator.

Radio Shack "experts" need to stick to what they know best, pressuring their customers into buying overpriced batteries and cell phone plans.

Yep, the only reason I go to ratshack these days is to buy minutes for my cell phone. And, I did buy my DTV converter boxes there; but, I haven't been a regular at ratshack in 15+ years. That was about the time that the knowledgeable sales staff left and were replaced by people who couldn't find their butt with both hands and a flashlight. Not to mention that RS no longer carries the amount of electronic parts that they did years ago.

RS is still acceptably stocked around here; I frequently go there to buy solder, rectifier bridges, common-value cap's etc....but they are indeed overpriced and the help is a joke....

I am mortified.

And what is really sad is that these ignorant people are actually proud of how knowledgeable they are. Did you see the expression on the guy's face at the end? That "I'm smarter than you" snotty look. Sheesh.

I guess Ron White was right, you can't fix stupid.
