Australia to do a gradual analog TV shutdown

Instead of the entire country switching analog TV off on the same day (except one test city), like we did here in the USA. Was listening to an Australian radio station internet stream (Internet stream DX? :D ) and they mentioned a web site with info http://www.digitalready.gov.au/rolloutmap.aspx
From 2010 to 2013

Analog slowly fades away:tears::thumbsdn: All we have now is glitchy garbage. My digital cable glitches more than the satellite did.WTF?:sigh:

theophile 12-29-2009 08:34 PM

Thank GOD for that.

I still don't receive my TV feed from a digital set-top box.We kill-off analogue here in South East Queensland in 2013. :thmbsp:

That gives me another 3 years.

Happy New Year!

It's still last year here in the USA. :D

I see that your location is Queensland, sunshine coast. Back in 1986 I vacationed in Australia (to see Haley's Comet) and one of the cities my tour group visited was Cairns. Was a nice little town, near the Great Barrier Reef. As the tour bus rolled into town from the airport, I saw a place that had a big sign "XXXX" over the front. Thought it was an "adult movie" theater... :D
I still remember the radio station callsigns like "558 4AM" and "4CA".

XXXX. :scratch2:

Yeah.We have a joke here,that the founder of the company was illiterate:Being thus,he couldn't spell 'SH*T',but knowing that it was a four-letter word,he wrote XXXX. :D

Have a Happy New Year. :thmbsp:

Sounds like that beer isn't that good :scratch2: But from what I've heard Fosters is worse, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wRDPQ63gpc
But the Fosters sold in the USA I've heard is brewed under contract by some brewery in Canada, and isn't that bad. Our worst beer is said to be "Iron City" from Pittsburgh, PA. :yuck:

Beer preferences are on the tongue of the partaker, naturally.

I tend to side-with those who feel that XXXX(known as 'Fourex' here)tastes like SH*T(or bad enough to liken it to that substance.I don't have first-hand experience of faeces )

I have sworn-off beer for life(no kidding). However before making that decision,I was lured over to The Dark Side by an English Stout named 'Youngs Double Chocolate Stout'(not the reason for my giving-up beer,by the way).

It's gorgeous. :beer::tresbon:

I just visited the Young's website, and they are no longer making it. :sigh:

Iron City? I still vote National Bohemian the worst I have ever had. Lots of bad beers here in America, Theophile. Maybe we'll put together a sampler package for you. Just pray that customs will seize it before it gets there.

You boys obviously never had to choke down Schmidt's..Leave the "M" out, & that's about what it was...Damstuff needed to be ALL poured back into the horse..Or the nearest river..
