1967 GE Color TV sweepstakes

I call your attention to the model at the lower right of the left-hand page (boy leaning on it). Apparently a 18-20 inch table model chassis that has had a wood console designed to accept it. In my personal opinion, one of the ugliest sets ever.
Indeed not a looker but tell me if you found one you wouldn't pick it to restore it. Even ugly tv's need love too. Look at my heathkit!
Btw that console chassis is the same one as the one on the metal cart on the right page top center. Lol

It's not as ugly as the stuff GE was making in the late 1950s. Truth be told, for an entire generation the majority of console sets looked like table models with a cabinet designed around them! That was my pet peeve about their style back when they were new.
You're right David, those 50's GEs were not so great, I only liked the designer series from the later 50s. These color sets are kinda good looking, I like the Danish modern console.
I couldn't help it. It just seemed like the phrase "lipstick on a pig" applied here.
Great ad...and I sure would like to have one of those sets. I've had at least one of the tuning meter versions and it was a terrible, terrible set...but I wish I had it back! That one was a table model with a wood cabinet, something I always found a little strange.

Wonder who won the contest.
