Various sets of that vintage had a socket on the back of the chassis labeled "color convertor" to which a color wheel could be connected.

It'd have to be a pretty big wheel for a set that size, wouldn't it? I thought they only did that with the smaller screened b&w sets?

Actually the color wheel would be in a seperate "slave" set that had a wheel, 10 inch CRT and a magnifier. Not a very practical application. The later NTSC color wheel converters had a switsh that would reduce the size of the picture so they could be used on the larger screen sets.

The color converter may also simply be one of those colored overlay sheets, or they may be saying "color converter" when they mean "digital converter".
