yet another RCA console

On the way, the seller is even going to bring it to my house, cant say no to that. Any ideas on the chassis type?

My back hurts just looking at it, pretty nice catch!

DaveWM 11-28-2009 09:40 PM

one thing I like about the consoles is you can ignore the tuner for audio, just direct drive the stereo. that makes the tv tuner alignment less critical, since you only have to worry about adj the fine tuning for best video. That and the sound quality is just sooo much better.

Now I just have to figure where to keep it. I am thinking about stacking it with the magnavox B&W, that way I can switch between them depending on what I am watching.

I need a MUCH LARGER HOUSE or a basement (well not here if FL, a basement here would be a in door pool).

Hey welcome to the CTC 17 club! Variac that chassis with the HOT pulled for an hour or so. Those chassis produce an amazing picture!! I got 2 of them. The cabinet looks good too. Not too much abuse. Cool!

freakaftr8 11-28-2009 10:17 PM

Btw that's a 1965 model year too. See if it's an xab xae xad. Etc after the ctc 17 onthe back of the chassis. Good find.

DaveWM 11-28-2009 10:22 PM

Cool good to know, I hope it has the RCA stereo chassis I am fam with, I have a stero only console with a decent EL84 PP amp and a good tuner, would be great if this has that setup.

freakaftr8 11-28-2009 10:27 PM

Crap. I'd tell you but my SAMs is at my house in California and I'm in Michigan right now. You'll probably find out before I get back although.

Michagan, home of all the great TV deals! hope you can pickup something while you are there.

So the CTC17 is when they went to rectangle from roundie?

sampson159 11-28-2009 10:38 PM

it may have a 25axp22.very good performer.i have a console with that same chassis and crt.very good set.solid state stereo-those are good performers also.good find!

bgadow 11-28-2009 10:56 PM

Yes, that was RCA's first rectangular set. They kept building roundies for awhile, the last series being the CTC-20. The control panel on your set also looks like my CTC-25.

freakaftr8 11-28-2009 10:58 PM

Yep but flew in to see my mom. Wish I had a truck or a huge uhaul!! I gotta use my iPhone for the Internet. My laptop got destroyed in transit. I'd love to pick up some sets from Doug or Carmine or some people this way or at least get to meet them.
