That's a nice looking set.

Looks like a 5U4 that they killed. Probably because of a shorted electrolytic. In that case you probably have to worry about the transformer.

The tube chart is interesting. It seems to list for the CRT a 10BP4 or a 12LP4 or a 12VP4. I'd love a 12VP4. I can't tell what they have in it though. It looks almost short enough to be a 12VP4. Given the damage they've done already I'm reluctant to ask them to look.

It amazes me that manufacturers didn't install fuses in expensive TVs. Just trying to save a buck, I guess, and sell replacement sets. Victor/RCA Radiolas of the late 20's are a prime example of that; one is lucky to find one with a power transformer that is not open.
